Singletary saved 49ers with timely timeout

So Mike Singletary made the rather unorthodox decision to call a timeout for no particular reason in the middle of a defensive series late in the third quarter. For no other reason, that is, than that Singletary knew from experience it was exactly what his team – and particularly, his defense – needed.
