Now that Patrick Willis is in his element, he has become a pad-popping tackle machine that quickly has caught everybody’s attention at 49ers training camp with his speed to the football, true-to-form tackling technique and – especially – the ferocity with which he delivers blows. The team’s prized first-round draft pick’s getting better each practice as he makes an early statement that he belongs.
