The who, what and where of training camp as the 49ers begin their summer preparation for the 2008 NFL season.
What: 63rd 49ers summer training camp
Site: Marie P. DeBartolo Sports Centre
City: Santa Clara
Directions to facility: North on U.S. Highway 101 past San Jose into Santa Clara; take right off freeway at Great America Parkway; take right off Great American Parkway at Tasman; take right off Tasman onto Centennial Boulevard. Team complex is at 4949 Centennial Boulevard.
Year at site: Sixth
Camp dates: July 24-Aug. 22
Players report: July 24
First day of practice: July 25
Schedule: The 49ers will practice twice daily, once in the morning and once in afternoon, with a special teams practice taking place in the later session on every other day. For times and daily sessions, check

Open practices: Fans are allowed to attend eight practices that are open to the public. The team offers free tickets to camp. For information how to get tickets, check www.49ers.com.
Open practice dates and times: July 26, 9-10:30 a.m.; July 27, 9-10:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m.; July 28, 4-5:30 p.m.; July 30, 4-5:30 p.m.; Aug. 1, 4-5:30 p.m.; Aug. 2, 9-10:30 a.m.; Aug. 3, 4-5:30 p.m.
Roster cutdowns: The first roster cutdown to 75 players is Aug. 26. All clubs must have their roster down to a maximum of 53 players by Aug. 30. The following day clubs can begin assembling an eight-man practice squad.
