35 years old but still going strong

With it looking more and more likely that backup T Tony Pashos will be playing elsewhere in 2010, re-signing fellow reserve Barry Sims becomes much more imperative.

The 49ers can't go into the 2010 season without any reliable, experienced veteran reserves, and the free agent options at tackle look pretty unappealing. Sims played very well in relief of injured starting LT Joe Staley last season and showed he can still be counted on, even at 35-years old.

All along Sims should've been a higher priority for the 49ers than Pashos, because he's versatile enough to play both tackle spots, whereas Pashos is strictly just a RT. It's unclear how many suitors Sims will have, but the team can't afford to play any games with him. Both sides should work together to get something done.
