The first UFA visit the 49ers have scheduled is for someone nobody saw coming - quarterback David Carr, who was Eli Manning's backup last season with the Giants.

Carr has been very good the past two years, albeit in very limited work and playing almost exclusively in garbage time of games. Nevertheless, his signing would give the 49ers two former #1 overall picks in their QB depth chart, and Carr is considerably more athletic and has a stronger arm than current backup Shaun Hill.
