Colin Kaepernick has struggled to find receivers not named Anquan Boldin or Vernon Davis through the first five weeks of the season.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh expects last year's top pass catcher Michael Crabtree to back on the field in mid to late November, he said Monday.
"He seems to be on track for that," Harbaugh said. "That's what we're hopeful for."
Following Sunday's game, Boldin has made 26 receptions while the rest of the wideouts have 13 combined - nine of which belong to Kyle Williams. Davis has 14.
The 49ers play the Carolina Panthers Nov. 10 following Week 9's bye week, then travel to New Orleans Nov. 17 and Washington for a Monday night tilt against the Redskins.
"(I) Pretty much talk to (Crabtree) every day and things seem to be going well. He’s been very positive, very upbeat and things are progressing well,” Harbaugh said.
Mario Manningham is eligible to return to the team in two weeks when the team travels to play the Tennessee Titans and could help the passing game while the team waits on Crabtree. Harbaugh said he expects him to start practicing next Monday following the game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Manningham is recovering from an ACL and PCL tears in his left knee suffered in Dec. 23's loss in Seattle.
