Bears interested in Darrell Bevell

The Chicago Bears have requested permission to interview Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.

Add another name to the list of potential head coaches for the Chicago Bears. The team has requested permission to interview Darrell Bevell, offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. The Chicago Sun Time first reported the news.

Bevell has worked as OC in Seattle for the past two seasons. Before that, he served in the same role for the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-2010.

He broke into the NFL as an offensive assistant for the Green Bay Packers from 2000-2002, before being elevated to quarterbacks coach from 2003-2005, working with both Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. He also worked with Favre in Minnesota.

The Seahawks ranked just 17th overall in offense this year but third in rushing. In 2011, Seattle ranked 27th in total offense.

Bevell has been praised this season for creating and developing a read-option offense that works to the strengths of rookie quarterback Russell Wilson.

Bevell is the 10th coaching candidate with whom the Bears have requested an interview. The other nine: Mike McCoy, Broncos offensive coordinator; Bruce Arians, Colts offensive coordinator; Mike Sullivan, Buccaneers offensive coordinator; Rick Dennison, Texans offensive coordinator; Tom Clements, Packers offensive coordinator; Keith Armstrong, Falcons special teams coordinator; Joe DeCamillis, Cowboys special teams coordinator; Pete Carmichael Jr., Saints offensive coordinator; and Marc Trestman, head coach of the Montreal Alouettes (CFL).
