The procedure, commonly referred to as a knee scope, will keep Jeffery on the shelf for at least another couple of weeks. Jeffery hurt the knee in the fourth quarter of Monday night's contest against the San Francisco 49ers. He finished the game on the bench with his knee wrapped in ice.
The setback is disappointing for the rookie, whose development has already been stunted, having missed four games already with a fractured hand. Jeffery, Chicago's second-round pick this year, was developing nicely into the team's No. 2 wideout before his hand injury.
The knee scope is the same procedure linebacker Brian Urlacher underwent during the preseason. Urlacher missed a little over two weeks but was able to start the season on time. If Jeffery misses just two weeks, he'll return in Week 14 when the Bears play the Minnesota Vikings.
