Wulff lands job with 49ers

PAUL WULFF has landed in the NFL. The former Washington State head coach told Cougfan.com today that he started his new job this past Monday, joining forces with old foe Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco. Wulff is an offensive assistant with the 49ers, with multiple duties on that side of the ball.

Wulff declined to talk in depth or about contract details but did say his family will be moving down to the Bay Area and joining him in the summer.

Harbaugh isn't the only familiar face Wulff will find on the Niners.

Offensive line coach Tim Drevno was an assistant with Harbaugh at Stanford and he was at Big Sky rival Montana State when Wulff was at Eastern Washington.

Similarly, 49ers offensive assistant coach Michael Christianson coached at Montana State and Portland State when Wulff was at EWU.

With Wulff's NFL hiring, all members of the previous staff have found new positions. Chris Ball is at ASU, Todd Sturdy went to Iowa State, Chris Tormey is at Wyoming, Todd Howard is with Cal, Rich Rasmussen landed at Boise State and Mike Levenseller is at Idaho. Jody Sears is at Weber State – he was originally hired as defensive coordinator but became the interim head coach in late April when John L. Smith left for Arkansas.

Two other assistants under Wulff, OL coach Steve Morton and special teams/running backs coach Dave Ungerer, continue to hold down jobs at WSU. Morton is the coordinator of the Gray W Varsity Club and Ungerer is the Coordinator of Ticket Sales.
