Wait over as Tai Streets finally signs 1-year deal

What have the 49ers been waiting for? They should have brought back versatile safety Ronnie Heard to the roster a month ago. And DT D'Marco Farr has been dangling in no-man's land since it became apparent at minicamp two weeks ago the former Pro Bowler's knees weren't about to hold up for any sort of comeback attempt. On Thursday, the wait ended for both players as the 49ers re-signed Heard and released Farr, two moves that provide roster clarity as the team prepares for its second May minicamp.

The Niners did right by snapping up Heard, who not only was a valuable swing safety for them last year, but also has been one of the team's best special teams players since he joined the 49ers as an undrafted free-agent rookie in 2000.
